Ingushetia, 2003

"Time heals no wounds. The greatest grief on earth, I fear, that is to lose what one holds dear." Steen Steensen Blicher

Russian soldiers began demolishing Chechen Refugee Camps in Ingushetia on 6th januari 2003. Everything was flattened in a place previously home to several hundred Chechen refugees. Including tents, mud brick houses and shacks made of plastic and cardboard.

There is very little information about the fate of those refugees who were forcibly re-located back to Chechnya. Today, regular accounts still indicate continued acts of brutality, summary executions, torture, arbitrary arrest and other exactions against a population who have been living in hell for the past decade.
